DLO – model of a bench

Task description ;

Malo e Lelei everyone , for our DLO we made a “make it work ” bench . We were told that their wasn’t enough money for materials and products for us to make a life-size bench so we scratched that and made a model of a bench . My reflection of going through our make it work project , I kinda felt frustrated and upset that we couldn’t make a life-size bench but overall our group did a good job , even though we can’t sit on it . We had loads of fun putting our project together but my highlight was seeing my group smiling and having positive vibes during some bloopers . I really enjoyed making memories with my year 7 friends as it is my last year with them . I hope you enjoyed and had a laugh at our video , please leave a positive comment !

Inference – Surprise Birthday Party

SURPRISE BIRTHDAY PARTY

Flies hovered around the kitchen, looking for a suitable place to land.

Mrs Stevens carefully opened the hot oven and took out the two dozen small cakes inside. They were to be part of a surprise birthday party for her son, who would be home soon from school. After cooling the cakes by the open window, she began to decorate them with icing, cream and ‘hundreds and thousands’. Then she put them onto a large serving plate and took them to the dining table where she covered them with a brightly embroidered cloth over the cakes.

On the table were six cups and a similar number of knives, forks and serviettes. A birthday card with a picture on the front of a large cake with ten candles burning brightly sat at one end of the jarrah table.

Rain began to drip slowly down the drainpipe outside as Mrs Stevens removed her apron and hurried outside to the utility in the tin shed. Soon she was speeding down the rough and bumpy road to the bus stop. She was just in time to see a happy looking Shane waving goodbye to Mrs Johnson, the bus driver. How to be a great Prime Minister

WRITING ( Practise Test )

To be a great prime minister of New Zealand comes with great responsibility.  Leading the country comes with great respect for the people and having strength.  Today I will be talking about raising the minimum wage, lowering food prices and making public health care free.

Raising minimum wage;

Nowadays parents and workers aren’t being paid enough even if they are working, DAY AND NIGHT.  The minimum wage dropped down to $18 an hour which is a less amount of what people should be getting. Parents need money to support their kids in needing to pay for school fees, food and many more things. Some families are struggling to either pay for financial problems, food or even health care. Raising the minimum wage would be a great thing, families wouldn’t struggle to pay bills and have more money to spend on themselves. I think the minimum wage should be raised up to $35 because some workers are parents, they take time out of looking after their own kids just to put food on the table and provide the best for them.

Lower food prices :

 In this generation , food prices have been rising more than expected . Big families struggle to pay for a lot of food, if supermarkets/shops were to lower food prices it’d have a great impact on families. Since food prices are very high some families aren’t even able to fill their trolley, or buy all their groceries that they need. It would help families when they are struggling with money and many more. If they were to lower food prices , families wouldn’t have to spend over $100-$150.

Public Health Care Free :

Personal health needs are expensive nowadays, at the doctors people are having to pay for their health care from $30-$50. If public health care was to be free, our community would be full of healthy, living people. Health care should be free because some families struggle with the money they have to pay or have no money at all . Even if the health care prices did drop, it would be very helpful for families who can’t afford it.

So in conclusion, I explained some ways of being a great prime minister for New Zealand. My idea in being a great prime minister is making public health care free, lowering food prices, and raising minimum wage.

VC Fomo – Response

MIND YOUR MESSAGES

Abbey: VC Fomo

Listen to Episode →

Emotional intelligence:

  • Recognising and managing own emotions
  • Recognising emotions of others through tone and body language, even in digital communication
  • Building trust in online relationships by being empathetic and understanding of others’ emotions and needs
  • Recognising when someone may be violating your trust online and taking steps to protect yourself
What happened in the story (brief summary).
In the story Abbey was being peer pressured by her friends to join the VC . But Abbey wasn’t getting enough sleep and staying on vc late at night , waking up with an attitude and sore eyes .
Can you relate to this problem in your life?
Yes , meaning I need to go sleep early and take breaks on my device .
What should Abbey do differently now?
Abbey should get more sleep and to lessen her time on VC . Not only does it affect herself , it affects her family and school life .
What did you learn from the story?
I learnt that FOMO isn’t always that serious.  Also  going on VC late at night and getting less than 9 hours of sleep  is a very unhealthy habit .
